When I was a seven-year-old girl, there was a man who worked as a guard in an apartment where I lived. His attitude toward his work and life was so impressive even to the eye of a little girl. He was always kind to people with smile while other guards usually were lifeless or unsatisfied. The guard job in Korea is quite low in the socioeconomic ladder. So retirees often become the guards. However, this middle-aged man in his 50s was unique and so energetic that he was always searching what he could do such as gardening which was not mandatory. Because of his endeavor, our gate garden was the most beautiful. My family liked him and often shared the food with him. He was influential to me with his sincere and positive attitude. Sometimes I miss him and wonder how he lives now.
